In Greece the biggest festival of the Orthodox Easter falls on 15th April this year. The religious feeling is particularly intense during this period, mainly because Easter is not limited to Easter Sunday, but the entire Holy Week which includes the rites of the great feast.

Worshiping takes place twice daily, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. On Good Friday the image of Christ (Epitaph) is adorned, with fragrant flowers being worn in the evening during the procession through the streets. The faithful follow this procession, singing and pouring rose petals over the epitaph. The next night, on Holy Saturday, the resurrection takes place at midnight. The faithful ignite their candles with the "Holy Light" and bring it home, where they sit at the feast table and enjoy "trigger" with red eggs.

Easter Sunday is celebrated outdoors. It is traditional to grill lamb and celebrate the resurrection of Christ and the beginning of spring. Crete is especially beautiful in spring as the country bursts into full bloom. SENTIDO Hotels & Resorts have 10 hotels in Greece.
